Kayak For A Cause – September
Kayak For A Cause is back and better than ever for 2019! Benefiting Boys and Girls Club of Waco!
This year Kayak For A Cause will adopt a 3-part series race format. McLane Stadium will play host to a Spring, Summer and Fall race. Competitors will receive a discount for registering for all 3 races. Each race will offer a Short Course or Long Course option and will be open to 3 divisions: Singles Kayak, Doubles Kayak and Stand-Up Paddle Board (SUP). Registration will take place in Parking Lot 2 in front of the McLane Stadium Lagoon boat slips. The boat slips will also be the launching point for all kayaks/paddle boards.
All paddlers will begin together at 9:00 AM under the Pedestrian Bridge connecting Touchdown Alley and the South Plaza. Kayaks will have a choice to register for the Leisure or Competition Course. Stand-Up Paddlers will be racing on the Leisure Course. The Leisure Course will leave the Lagoon and turn LEFT, go around the La Salle Ave/77 Bridge and return to the Lagoon. This Course is approximately 1.5 miles long. The Competition Course will leave the Lagoon and turn RIGHT, go around the Waco Drive Bridge and return to the Lagoon. This Course is approximately 3 miles long. Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division will be given out after the race on the South Plaza.
Spectators are welcome, free of charge, to cheer on the competitors from the South Plaza and enjoy the music, food trucks and ice cold alcoholic beverages for sale during and after the race.
Kayak For A Cause is open to all levels of paddlers. Go hard and fast or slow and smooth. Either way, we should celebrate the wonderful resource of the Brazos River and have fun.
